Everything you need to know about StreamUps, platform rules, and how it all works.
General
What is StreamUps?
StreamUps is a chat control centre for streamers who broadcast to multiple platforms. It merges Twitch, YouTube, Kick and TikTok chats into one panel, lets you reply from one place (TikTok chat is read-only), and displays a unified overlay on your stream. It's also a destination for viewers—they can visit StreamUps to chat with everyone watching, not just people on their platform.
Do I have to use simulated chats or AI features?
No. StreamUps works perfectly as a pure chat management tool. The engagement chats and AI features are completely optional—many streamers use StreamUps just for the unified chat panel and overlay.
Is StreamUps free?
Yes. The free tier includes one platform integration, one custom engagement chat, the chat control panel, and all free overlay tools. Paid tiers with more features are coming soon.
Platform Rules
Is this allowed on Twitch, YouTube, Kick and TikTok?
StreamUps is designed with platform compliance in mind. We don't cross-post messages between platforms. When you reply to a viewer, your message goes only to their platform. We read chat through official APIs and don't do anything that would trigger automated spam detection. That said, platform terms change frequently, so while we actively work to stay compliant, we can't guarantee 100% alignment.
Will this get me banned?
We've designed StreamUps to avoid actions that violate platform ToS. Chat merging for your viewing is fine—we're just displaying messages to you. Replies are isolated to the original platform. Custom engagement chats are your content to manage and disclose as appropriate. Keep in mind that platform terms evolve, so we recommend staying informed about current guidelines.
Does the overlay show platform logos or branding?
No. The unified overlay shows clean chat with no platform indicators. Viewers see one conversation, not a mashup of branded chats. However, viewers chatting directly on StreamUps can see where messages come from and where they're going—and if they connect their own platform account, they can chat directly to that platform too.
How do replies work across platforms?
When you reply to a message in the StreamUps panel, your reply goes only to the platform where that message originated. A reply to a Twitch viewer stays on Twitch, a Kick viewer stays on Kick, and a YouTube viewer stays on YouTube—including YouTube Shorts live streams. No cross-posting.
Is YouTube integration available?
Yes. YouTube chat integration is live—we're approved by Google, and YouTube Live messages flow into the same unified panel and overlay as Twitch and Kick. Replies work too, on both regular live streams and YouTube Shorts live streams. Connect your YouTube account from the StreamUps dashboard.
Is TikTok integration available?
Yes. TikTok Live chat is now supported alongside Twitch, YouTube and Kick. Select TikTok in the setup wizard and your TikTok Live messages, live viewer count, and activity appear in the unified chat panel and overlay with everything else. TikTok chat is read-only — replies can't be sent back to TikTok.
Features
What are custom engagement chats?
Custom engagement chats are AI-generated chat messages you can add to your stream. They're designed to fill quiet moments and spark conversation. You create personas with names and personalities, and the AI generates contextual messages.
Can viewers still chat normally on their own platform?
Nothing changes for your viewers. They chat on their preferred platform exactly as they always have. StreamUps just brings those messages together for you to see and manage. Or, viewers can come to StreamUps directly and chat with everyone watching—regardless of which platform they're on.
What's the difference between AI Chat Assist and custom engagement chats?
Custom engagement chats are automated messages that appear in your chat. AI Chat Assist suggests replies for you to send—it's a writing helper, not an automated poster. Both require you to approve content before it goes live.
What is multi-streamer combined chat?
Multi-streamer combined chat lets you merge chats from multiple collaborating creators into one unified conversation. Perfect for squad streams, podcasts, and tournaments.
How do I control when engagement chats appear?
You have full control. Start, pause, or stop custom chats anytime. Set the pace and drip feed messages when you want—it's completely up to you.
Does StreamUps support custom chat commands?
Yes. You can create custom !commands — !lurk, !discord, !socials, !uptime and anything else your chat asks for — with responses, cooldowns and user levels. The difference from a single-platform bot is that one command list answers on Twitch, YouTube Live and Kick at the same time, so you write each command once. See the Custom Chat Commands page for setup, or the commands list for guides to every individual command.
Do chat commands work on Kick and YouTube Live as well as Twitch?
Yes. A command you create in StreamUps replies in every connected chat, which matters because most of the older Twitch chat bots don't connect to Kick at all. If you simulcast, that's usually the deciding factor when choosing a commands bot.
Technical
How do I add the overlay to OBS?
Copy the overlay URL from your StreamUps dashboard. In OBS, add a new Browser Source and paste the URL. Resize and position as needed. The overlay updates in real-time.
What permissions does StreamUps need?
We request only the permissions needed to read chat messages and send replies on your behalf. We use OAuth authentication—we never see your passwords. You can revoke access anytime.
Does StreamUps work with Streamlabs, XSplit, etc.?
Yes. Any streaming software that supports browser sources will work with StreamUps overlays.
